Potters helping potters
Are you a well-aged potter with equipment you would like to donate?
Potters helping potters: this philosophy is at the crux of the Legacy Project. As the years go by, we have expanded on our ways to help the up-and-coming potters. The apprenticeship program will soon welcome the third apprentice, but that doesn’t mean our support of the previous apprentices has ended—far from it.
We helped Sarah Wilson, our first apprentice, open a studio and gallery on First Avenue in Ladysmith. Her studio space in the back is equipped with donations from potters who are no longer working at their craft, potters helping potters.

Our second apprentice, Sabrina Sachiko Campbell, recently returned from a road trip where she picked up supplies and equipment from an experienced potter who wanted to help. While she has most of what she will need to set up her studio when she finishes here, a big computerized kiln is still on the wish list.
Are you, or do you know of someone who is no longer potting who would like to donate their equipment? This is a big way to help. It’s tough to get set up, and even tougher to make a living at this craft, so the potters need all the help they can get. Here at the Legacy Project, we welcome all donations. We have exciting future plans underway to create studio spaces here in Ladysmith for apprentices and budding potters. Your gifts of equipment will help to make this a reality.
Giving back… it’s a good thing, a very good thing!
